The Syrian Arab Army has officially taken control of three towns in the southern countryside of the Hama Governorate, a military report confirmed this afternoon.

According to the report, the Syrian government fully reconciled with town elders in the towns of Taqsis, Imarah, and Jamaqiliyah after a military delegation met with the people earlier in the day.

These three towns were previously neutral, but openly in communication with both the Syrian government and rebel forces in the area.

With these towns under government control, the Syrian military will now make another push for reconciliation with the rebels in the northern countryside of Homs.

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) took control of two militant pockets in the East Ghouta region this past weekend, leaving only one last town to capture.

Led by their Tiger Forces and Republican Guard, the Syrian Arab Army was able to steadily advance through the East Ghouta region over the course of a month.

These gains in the East Ghouta eventually paved the way for the Syrian Army to split the militant-held areas into three different pockets.

With all but Douma left to capture, the Syrian Army has already begun moving troops out of the region as they prepare to launch a new operation in southern Damascus and Dara’a.
